SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION : MEANING AND REASON

Constitution is a laid down body of agreed rules stating how a country will be rule according to the tenet and guide of the constitution, the supremacy of the constitution needs to prevail over everyone and everything happening in a geographical area, state, community, town village, country and so on, constitution in perfect summary set the pace and guide for the administration of a country.

A constitution can be written or printed or it may be unwritten and oral, the constitution of some country is flexible which means that the amendment process of such constitution is easy and not too hard, though it is popularly believed that a flexible constitution could be manipulated by some set of individual who might not considered the interest of the people as a leader before they carry out some decision which might cause controversy but due to the easy changeable amendment process, flexible constitution is easy to influence with power, while the last is rigid constitution, merely seeing the word rigid one can deduce that it is a strong form of constitution i.e the ways and the amendment process provided for it are not too easy and could not be manipulated, before the amendment of a rigid constitution takes place, there must be the two-third majority of the house of representative and house of assembly plus the present of some judges and executive most time including the President.

The constitution stand supreme over all the citizen, institution and all branches of government federal, state and local. Once the constitution is written and approved by the people the house of representative or house of senate is not above the constitution since both are creations of this documents.

The constitution is higher than everyone and all citizens are subject to the law even the so called executive, legislature and judiciary, as we know that the legislature makes law in a country, while the executive implement the law made by the legislature and judiciary that serves as the third tier of government interpret the law of the land, despite all this the three arms are not in any way above the constitution but will rather be subjected to it in order for justice to prevail in a society, place, states, country and so on.

The supremacy of the constitution will strengthen the fundamental human right of every occupant or citizens of a country,

SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION.

To be supreme means to be above all other things and to be above all other things means that something of a particular importance comes first before any other such as the constitution of a country made by the people must come first in any sphere of what happens in the society at large, supremacy of the constitution will always strengthen the right of the people and they will not be deprived of it.

Supremacy of the constitution simply means that the law of the land is above every citizens, no one should consider himself/herself higher above the laws of the land. the law in the constitution are applicable to all individuals in the country no matter the individual's social, economic, political position in a country.

Supremacy of the constitution meas that no law or action can violate a Nation constitution. Supremacy of the constitution can also be referred to as constitutional supremacy.

Constitution supremacy is a doctrine whereby the constitution is high (Supreme) and the government rules in accordance with the constitution and at the same time the power of the government is limited by the constitution.

REASONS FOR THE SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION

It safeguards the right and those duties which is always expected of the citizen of a country.
It serves as a corrector to whatever ills that might want to happen by an official e.g embezzlement, if such act happens the constitution which dictate the rule might frown upon such
It serves as the utmost security and defender of every citizens of a country right.
The rule of law is strengthen through supremacy of the constitution of a country.
It ensures that there is orderliness of laws in the society, community, state and country.
It state the correct position of which any administrator or arms of government can reach or defines their limit as an idea of separation of power.
It ensures the independent of judiciary to interpret and pass on fair judgement to any given case happening in the society.
